Wash one‘s dirty linen in public – an open performance
Washing off stains which don’t disappear easily, washing the memory, brainwashing. Untold family stories, stories of places, countries, etched in our bodies. Traps and granaries of memory.
We are interested in ways of talking about things we would rather keep quiet about. How to articulate the troublesome which, sooner or later, we have to face anyway.
We are preoccupied with the subject of emigration, inward as well as outward. We try to discover what happens when it is difficult to fulfil the need for safety, for self-expression, when one is identified as a “problem”. We assume that everybody experiences being in the minority from time to time.
We want to identify and examine “minority” phenomena in the belief that we need one another: majorities need minorities and vice versa, so called able-bodied need the so called disabled and vice versa.
We also ask: What gives us the sense of being real? What constitutes the feeling of identity? What happens when this identity is being reduced, a person equated with her/his function, their creativity frozen? Finally we ask about the role of memory and recycling experiences.
On stage our heroines are five emigrants from Africa, India, Russia, Poland who work for the same company. They don’t know each other from before but they share common experiences.

… has been developing transcultural projects since 2015, approaching a divergent, ethnic and cultural diversity. The experiences of actors from different social, religious and political contexts often form the basis of the projects. Theatrical performances with live music, the festival Tomorrow Club and smaller formats are developed: songs, lyrics, short films, musical readings and lecture workshops. In 2017 the ensemble opened a temporary play and production venue for interdisciplinary artistic practice in Dortmund: the Tomorrow Club Kiosk.

“Ich rede über den akuten Zustand von Afrikanern in Libyen. Also auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent. Die fliehen vor dem Krieg, vor dem Elend, vor dem Hunger und der Arbeitslosigkeit und werden anschließend verkauft, wie früher, wie Gemüse auf dem Markt. Die Erde dreht sich und die Menschen ebenfalls mit ihrem Verstand.”
Der Text von Yacouba Coulibaly (Darsteller des Transnationalen Ensemble Labsa) erklingt an diesem Abend wie ein Mantra aus der Nacht.
Haarige Geschichten
Am Samstag, den 24. März, sind Seratu, Zofia, Yacouba, Yogesh und Emilia mit ihrer Performance »Refugee Talks – What´s up with that?« im Lokal Harmonie in Duisburg zu sehen.
Bei der Premiere in Dortmund vor einer Woche ging es haarig zu. Hier folgen einige Momentaufnahmen, die während dieser Aufführung entstanden sind.
Gestern in Bochum, heute in Dortmund
Bei der gestrigen Premiere von »Und jetzt schaukle« im ZEITMAULtheater Bochum teilten die Schauspieler*innen die Bühnen mit Zeichnungen und Videoanimationen auf zwei Leinwänden. Die “krumme Linie”, die die Protagonist*innen auf der Bühne szenisch thematisierten, mussten auch die Besucher*innen beim Betreten des ZEITMAULtheaters in Form einer Kreidelinie auf dem Boden überschreiten.
Heute Abend um 19:00 Uhr geht es im Tommorow Club Kiosk in Dortmund weiter mit einer Doppelpremiere: Die beiden Performances »Krieg« von den Freien Radikalen und »Refugee Talks – What’s up with that?« vom Transnationalen Ensemble Labsa werden zum ersten Mal öffentlich dargeboten.
